Lake Norman, NC was created in the early 1960's and is North Carolinas largest manmade lake. It is located 25 minutes north/northwest of Charlotte, NC and a little southwest of Statesville, NC. Lake Norman was named after Norman Atwater Cocke, a former president of Duke Power.
