Negotiating Real Estate transactions

Negotiating a real estate deal is something your Charlotte, Lake Norman Real Estate Agent should be schooled at.

When looking for real estate you can meet a great number of Realtors out there who can find their way around town and do a pretty good job of locating the type and style of home you told them to look for. A competent tour of homes will take you to several neighborhoods in a given area, without a lot of backtracking and stopping to look at directions. The Charlotte area is not hard to figure out and your Realtor should have taken the time to find the most efficient line-up of homes for you to visit.

Let's say you found your dream home in The Peninsula, you then proceed to the offer stage of the process. Here is where you should open your eyes and ears to see and hear what is being done to protect your interests. It is human nature to take the easiest course of action to get a result. This is true of many Realtors in the negotiation of their client’s property purchase. Do not let your core wants and needs be compromised. If there are critical elements to be considered, do not let the Realtor lessen those interests and put you in a position of getting something other than what you want. You will ultimately be unhappy with your new home.

Make it clear from the start what it is you expect from your Realtor. Let the Realtor clearly understand where it is in Charlotte, or any surrounding community, that you want to live. Tell them the major features you want and tell the Realtor the range of value you are willing to purchase in. And don’t settle for less.

A Realtor is, or should be, many things, not the least of which is that he or she should be a good negotiator. The negotiation however, should be with the seller, not with you, the client in a compromise of those things that you truly want in your home. When looking for a home, use a good Realtor. It will make your experience a much more pleasant and profitable one.
